Compatibility and integration considerations
Kaby Lake runs on Intel 200 series chipsets, and on 100 series boards only after a BIOS update, so confirm the board's processor support list and firmware revision before ordering. The FCLGA1151 socket is also used by the 8th and 9th generation Core parts, which require 300 series boards and will not work in place of this one. Being an embedded SKU it supports ECC memory, which the desktop i3 parts of the same generation do not, though the board and chipset have to support ECC as well for it to be active. There is no Turbo Boost, so 3.90 GHz is the sustained clock rather than a peak, which keeps thermal and performance behaviour predictable over long duty cycles. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 requires display outputs on the board, and cooling should be rated for 54 W.
