The FCLGA1151 socket is shared with the 6th and 7th generation parts, but this processor needs an Intel 300 series chipset and will not boot on a 100 or 200 series board despite fitting the socket, so verify the chipset rather than the socket when ordering against an existing platform. Boards that shipped before this generation launched may need a BIOS update before they will post. The 35 W envelope is what makes this part fit fanless and small form factor chassis, but it costs most of the base clock: 2.20 GHz against 3.10 GHz on the 65 W i3-9100E, with the same 3.70 GHz class of turbo unavailable, since this part tops out at 3.20 GHz.
