Compatibility and integration considerations

This processor shipped in two packages and only one of them is a serviceable part. The 478-pin uFCPGA8 version drops into a Socket P notebook and can be replaced; the 479-ball uFCBGA8 version is soldered to the board and cannot. Confirm which a machine uses before ordering, because the part number does not distinguish them and the ordering codes differ: AW80577SH0513M and AW80577SH0513MN are socketed, AV80577SH0513M and AV80576SH0513M are soldered. Intel shipped the part across three steppings, M0, R0 and C0, under thirteen separate SKUs. There is no integrated memory controller and no on die graphics, so memory type, capacity, speed and the display adapter are all set by the notebook's chipset and governed by the machine's own documentation rather than anything on the processor datasheet. Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost are both absent from this generation, so the part presents two cores at a fixed 2.26 GHz.

Typical use cases

This processor is a repair part for 2008 era notebooks and for the industrial and medical equipment built around them, which is the only reason a part this old is still sourced at all. Intel has ended servicing updates and retired the product page from ARK, so no microcode or security fixes exist and none are coming.
