Intel lists exactly one compatible chipset for this processor, the C246, and the socket on its own is not a guide. FCLGA1151 is shared with 6th through 9th generation Core parts across three chipset generations, none of which will run a Xeon E. Memory runs in dual channel DDR4 at up to 2666 MT/s with a 128 GB ceiling, and ECC is supported, which is the main reason to choose this over a Core part on the same socket. The GE suffix marks the embedded variant of the E-2226G: Intel gives both the same six cores, 12 MB of cache and an 80 W envelope, but files the GE under an embedded vertical segment with extended availability and rates it 100 MHz lower on turbo, 4.60 GHz against 4.70 GHz.
